The Americans family, named Otis, moved to an English mansion which haunted by ghost. The Otis doesn't believe with the ghost although they're already warned by Lord Canterville.
I will take the furniture and the ghost at a valuation. I have come from a modern country, where we have everything that money can buy; and with all our spry young fellows painting the Old World red, and carrying off your best actors and prima-donnas, I reckon that if there were such a thing as a ghost in Europe, we'd have it at home in a very short time in one of our public museums, or on the road as a show. Then the ghost really does appear. Sir Simon, the ghost's name, tries to scare the whole members of Otis family. He does many tricks includes blood stain in the library. Unfortunately, he falls into despair. The family turns back him; they are family Mr. and Mrs. Otis, Washington, and also the little Virginia. The latter is mad at him because of his action in stealing her paints. In the other hand, the girl helps him to "go back home".
First time I heard about Oscar Wilde was from my teacher, Ms. Crissy. She is really a big fan of him. At that time, she testified that Wilde is such a smart and funny author. Well, I was not interested with him, but the name of Wilde always in my mind. Ten years later (2017) I tried to read one of his books (it's The Canterville Ghost! ), and I found it good, full of humor, and criticism. One quote I like is:
“We have really everything in common with America nowadays, except, of course, language.”If you want to read something fun but full of thought, you can try this ghost, I mean this novella. Sir Simon will open your eyes to different view about ghost story.
