Jess Aarons' greatest ambition is to be the fastest runner in his grade. He's been practicing all summer and can't wait to see his classmates' faces when he beats them all. But on the first day of school, a new girl boldly crosses over to the boys' side and outruns everyone.

That's not a very promising beginning for a friendship, but Jess and Leslie Burke become inseparable. Together they create Terabithia, a magical kingdom in the woods where the two of them reign as king and queen, and their imaginations set the only limits. (goodreads)
***
I believe this is a good book, since it was awarded Newbery Medal in 1978. The idea of the story is also good. It's about a friendship between a boy and a girl who have great imagination. Their dreams soar highly. And they try to realize them when they find a secret place which they named it Terabithia. So far I like the children like them, who prefer reading, drawing, and dreaming to those who prefer watching TV. The children who like reading much look wiser and better in thinking. They grow become curious and nice adult.

Although I say the book is good, I can't enjoy reading it. I don't know why. Perhaps it's because the story is slow moving in the fact that it's a think book; only 143 pages! I find I'm bored with this book. So I can't feel what the others feel about this book. And I also don't feel hurt by this book especially when something happen to the most important character.

After all the book is good and can be recommended for those who like fantasy and adventure and children story.

Last but not least, the quote from this book that I like most is;
"But I still don't think God goes around damning people to hell." said Leslie.

"But Leslie," May Belle insisted. "What if you die? What's going to happen to you if you die?" (p. 85)
This question comes out from May Belle since Leslie reveals that she doesn't believe in the next life. I think this is also the question from the author herself. She ask where will she go after she dies. And the part of her doesn't believe that God will send people to the hell after die, since God is nice and care to His creature.
